Yarp! I forgot, this happened.
Here is a link to the wedding album…some pictures are a bit blurry but they are still amazing:) Click on the album and it will take you to the pictures.
Well it’s only taken me a week to post this but after flying overnight and having to work on Monday after sleeping about 5 hours it has taken me a full week to recover:) It was well worth it! Why? Because I got to see one of my best friends get married!!! Last Thursday I finished school, got everything ready for my sub finished my second run of the day and then drove to the Portland International Airport. My flight left at 10:15 P.M. Yes I was taking the red eye. While it was not the best way to sleep through the night it was perfect for not having to waste a day. I definitely recommend overnight flights when going from the West Coast to the East Coast. Anyways I had my neck pillow and got a couple of hours of sleep. Then I had a layover in Newark. Oddly enough I had less than hour to make my connecting flight but no worries they had no pilot. So strange but it all worked out and I was in Detroit at 10:15 A.M. My awesome dad picked me up and we made it back to Lansing by around noon. The rest of the weekend was a blurr….in an amazing way. I got to see my other brother and sister-in-law who I haven’t seen in over a year for lunch. Let’s just say that I ran across the parking lot to see my brother:) It was awesome. That night I got to see these two:
Yeah I know the picture is blurry but it’s the only one I have. Hannah is on the far left (whose wedding I am in October and Kristen, the bride is in the middle). Let’s just say tears were shed when I saw these two. I am not sure what I would do without them and am so glad that at least we have cell phones. Hannah and I spent the night in Kristen’s hotel room on Friday night so we all got ready together before the rehearsal dinner. Highlight of the rehearsal was Luke’s speech. Luke is Kristen’s fiance and let’s just say seeing how much they love each other was incredible.
I love how happy they both are. Luke gave a speech that made me cry…..which was a reacurring thing for me that weekend. It was pretty moving and I am so glad that Kristen has a man who loves her more than anything:) We enjoyed the night together and then Saturday was wedding day. Kristen was beautiful!!
The ceremony was amazing, we had an awesome trolley ride with pictures, and the reception was beautiful. All in all seeing my best friend get married was by far one of the happiest moments ever for me. I can’t wait to see her and Hannah again. I also got to see my other amazing friends Megan and Andrea.
Megan is on the far left and Andrea is on the far right. I love those two and am so glad I get to see them in October. The weekend got even better when my brother Derek surprised me from Chicago!!!!! My brother Nathan and his wife came the reception to baby-sit Kristen’s sister-in-law’s kids. I went out to meet them and there was Derek!!!! More tears were shed as I got to hug both of my brothers at the same time!!!!! I know some people thought there brothers were annoying growing up but I have always had a great relationship with mine. Honestly I can’t imagine better brothers and I am pretty proud sister of both of them. They are both incredible people and so is my sister-in-law:) I left the wedding that night and Derek and I spent the night at Nathan and Emily’s house. It was awesome to be able to hang out with them. The next morning Nathan ran his first ever half marathon. Being the good sister and running nerd that I am I ran the whole thing with him at his pace…:)
He was amazing and ran 1:52!!!! The other awesome part of the weekend – getting to spend time with my parents:)
That’s my mom and me:) Who also celebrated her birthday while I was there.
My grandparents also came down. It was an awesome weekend that made me so thankful for my amazing friends and family that I have. Dave and I both talked about how blessed we are. The weekend ended with me finally getting to see Dave. After two weeks I ran out of that airport at midnight. He surprised me with a beautiful antique necklace and I cried (notice the theme yet?) as I hugged him. It was incredible to be with him and this last week has been awesome. I have a new found appreciation for people who have to be away from their spouses…I don’t know how they do it. This last week has been me playing catch-up on sleep and work but I finally feel caught up. The house is clean, my school work is somewhat caught up, and I slept for a good 12 hours last night, and went for an awesome 12 mile run. Happy weekend!
