Well I am sitting here in the airport…it’s 9:06 P.M. and I am getting ready to take the red eye. Why am I doing this when it’s only the second week of school….Best friend is getting married on Saturday!!!!!! I have the priviledge of standing in her wedding:) I am beyond excited to see her and my family and friends. The bonus when I get home husband will be back. We have been apart for 2 weeks…the longest ever. We have survived but I won’t sugar coat how hard this past week has been. Maybe it’s because while Iove my job and my students it’s been hard to have more than 30 students in all of my classes but one. They are quiet and respectful but I don’t feel like I get to spend as much time as I want with each one. Looks like I am going to have to get super creative. Also our school is expecting a lot from us….all will make our school better but it’s a lot. Or maybe it’s because I am training for the marathon and today I ran 11 miles this morning and 8 this afternoon so I could get in one last long run. Suffice to say I am exhausted. But despite that life is good…I get to see my best friends in less than 12 hours, I get to see my family and visit my childhood home that I haven’t seen in over a year and a half, I get to stay with my brother and his wife, and I get to see my husband. So here’s to an awesome weekend of seeing my best friend get married, family and friends, and an ending of being in husband’s arms:)
Life is good!!!
I remember every second of where I was when this happened. 10 years ago today the unthinkable happened. I remember being in 2nd period Organic Chemistry. It was my senior year. I was in class and our principal walked in and told the teacher to turn the t.v. on. We sat on watched for what seemed like hours. The planes went into the buildings – the twin towers and we sat there shell shocked. The rest of the day was a haze. One of my good friends didn’t know if her dad had made it back as he was traveling. As the weeks and months went on it was still in the back of our minds. I remember the next year sitting in the college library and President Bush announced war on the country who did this to us. 10 years later we are still in that war and it breaks my heart. I don’t want to get into a discussion about war but I strongly believe that the majority of issues can be solved without violence. Today though I want to remember those who lost their lives that day, the children who are missing their parents, and those who are giving up their lives for our country as we speak. May God bless them and keep them safe.
Do you remember where you were that day?
Today was a good day aside from the fact that I miss Dave pretty bad right now. The good thing is we have 1 week left the bad news is….I really don’t want to wait that long. Sigh….at least I got to skype with him and talk to him every day. He’s amazing like that but I digress. Last night I went to a housewarming party for some girls in my small group. It was really fun but I left around 10 because this girl here had to run 20 miles this morning. Yes almost done with my marathon training but today was an awesome run. I normally don’t do loops but I have a great 10 mile loop that I usually do in the mornings so I did that twice. It was a great run. I was really hot and dry on the second loop but thankfully there are water fountains on the river walk which was part of my run. When I got back I was exhausted but I showered and then was off to my hair appointment. This time next week I will be in my best friend Kristen’s wedding in Michigan. Since I am a bridesmaid I knew I needed to clean up my hair….it was in bad need of a haircut. I already had an appointment scheduled but I added a panel. What does that mean…I have two awesome blond streaks in my hair now:) No pictures because I want to surprise people in Michigan. I love the haircut and my hairdresser…I am going to be so sad when she graduates:) After that I went downtown and got some gifts….one for Kristen since I had yet to get her gift for her bachelorette party and one okay two for Dave:) I also got my mom’s birthday gift. This is the first birthday I get to be at in 5 years….so excited:) I also finished this series today:
All I can say is read it…..it was amazing and I can’t really explain it since it sounds strange but it was an awesome series. I can’t wait for the movies…although usually they disappoint but I will still go and see them. Right now I am finally relaxing….I am exhausted after the run today and am moving pretty slow but feel good and ready for this marathon.
So proud of my husband and his mba!
Just got to see this hottie on Skype:) I got to show him his MBA Diploma that came in. And I may have held it up so he didn’t see me crying because I was so excited to see his face.
This morning I was eating breakfast looking at facebook and these two photos greeted me:
Dave and our niece Isla
Andrew, Jude Andrew’s son, and Dave
Isn’t my husband adorable???? Let’s count this as one of the many reasons why I love him.
Happy First Day of School!
My school made the news!
Our school is getting Ipads for our students based on a one-to-one computing grant that we were awarded.
So how did you celebrate your labor day or more importantly your labor day weekend? I had a four – day weekend well let’s be honest I have had all summer but tomorrow is the first day of school for the students so I am ready to go and am feeling rested and prepared. Despite not having Dave this weekend and missing him a lot I had an overall pretty good weekend. On Saturday I hung out with Ciara – who is my friend who is staying with us for a little bit. We went for a run after I
chopped cut this random grass bush in our yard. It is seriously a long grass bush that has been somewhat tamed and left me with tons of scratches. Oh well mission accomplished. In the afternoon I went to Office Depot for some last minute school supplies and I picked up these guys:
My new silver shoes for Kristen’s wedding. So excited to wear them:) Yesterday I got up early, worked out, made some brunch and then set to work doing more stuff to get ready for school. Hopefully I am prepared but either way I feel pretty good no matter what. I later did some grocery shopping and finally got our living room area rug cleaned. Later I went to an amazing church service at night. Let’s just say God was there and it was awesome. Today was officially my last day of summer. I woke up and went running and came back and hit the books. This time it was for my master’s. I finished a paper for a class and once I submit it the class is done. I have one class after that which I am currently doing an instructional unit this week in my geometry class. Once I finish that I am done with all of my core classes!!! All I have left is to write my capstone paper which I have been doing in my classes and then present it orally. I am going to be so happy when this is done. I know I don’t talk about this much on my blog but I have been going to Western Governor’s University. It’s an online program which has been perfect for me. I got a ton done during the spring semester when Dave was in school and I have been knocking out a bunch this summer. I would like to finish by the end of November but we’ll see. Either way that was my labor day productive although a little boring. Oh well in less than 2 weeks I get to go to Michigan and be in one of my two favorite people’s weddings!!!!!
And before I forget congrats to Joe and Sara who got married last night. That’s where Dave was and by the pictures he sent and the texts I got from my awesome friend Andrea it sounds like they had a great time. I was really bummed I couldn’t go but I am so glad Dave was there and glad that we both get to go to our friend’s weddings:)
Off to get ready for school….I will update tomorrow about the first day:)
This morning I got up bright and early at 3:00 am. You are probably asking why are you getting up that early….well Dave had a flight to Chicago that left at 6am. He is in a wedding for one of our good friends in Chicago. Unfortunately I didn’t get to go with him because I am starting school on Tuesday and I am flying to Michigan for a wedding in 2 weekends. It was pretty awful dropping him off. Dave will be gone for two weeks. The first week he will get to see these people:
Our friend Joe in the glasses is getting married on Sunday – so happy for him and Sarah!!
I love this couple….honestly I don’t know what we would do without them:) Hope u too like the throwback picture!
This adorable cutie…who is even bigger and is the awesome son of the couple above:)
Our niece and brother and sister-in-law:)
And even more family. I am super jealous. After the first week is up Dave will go up to Milwaukee to work. Even though we live in Portland Dave’s job is actually still in Milwaukee so he is going to see his boss and get some face time. I know he is so dedicated. He will also get to see this great friend and her family and some other great friends that we have in Milwaukee.
Isn’t Jen beautiful……and she has two kids I love it. So I am here holding down the house. I will be busy working and starting school but I have to say I already miss Dave. I know I should be okay but I love my husband…which is a good thing:) I’ll make it but u can bet we have already talked and texted several times today:) He’s a good sport. So if you are in Chicago or Milwaukee look Dave up and if you are in Michigan in two weekends look me up:)
Freah lavendar from our plant outside drying in our room:)
